COVID-19 Treatment and Recovery virtual conference

Members of the Intensive Care Society and The Physiological Society recently came together to improve their understanding of the effects of COVID-19 to aid in patient recovery, thanks to a virtual conference hosted in partnership between both organisations.

Hosted on our events management platform, Event Builder, the virtual conference titled “COVID-19: Lessons Learned from the Frontline”, spanned 3 days and welcomed 350 participants with either physiological or clinical backgrounds to learn from industry leaders and share best practice for helping patients recover from the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The first virtual conference to be hosted in collaboration between both membership organisations, all participants benefitted from a number of innovative tech features via the VenuIQ platform including easy access to the live streaming of seven educational sessions which focused on the pathophysiological changes in different parts of the body following COVID-19, together with the use of an online chat and video meeting tool that enabled physiologists and the intensive care community to connect and share knowledge and experiences.

Members unable to attend the live sessions due to frontline duties also benefitted from on-demand recordings, which remain accessible via VenuIQ.

“The main aim of the ‘COVID-19: Lessons Learned from the Frontline’ conference was to demonstrate the importance of collaboration between physiologists and the intensive care community during COVID-19, which was made far easier via the use of the VenuIQ virtual platform, as aside from features that encouraged interaction, delegates also benefitted from accessibility and flexibility, which was imperative with so many working in ICU.”

Caitlin Oates, the Events and Marketing Officer for The Physiological Society

“The help and guidance that we received from the VenuIQ team was invaluable from the outset, from setting up the stage to on-the-day support. We felt they really understood our aims for the conference and what we required to make it successful. Overall, it was a real pleasure working with VenuIQ and we have since received excellent feedback from our delegates, which is just fantastic.”

Oliver Rowe, Co-Founder of VenuIQ, added: “Since the outbreak of COVID-19, VenuIQ has helped many organisations pivot their events and conferences online via the use of our innovative and interactive events management platform. We were delighted to support both the Intensive Care Society and The Physiological Society in hosting such an important conference and are very pleased that so many of our vital healthcare workers benefitted from the experience.”

With positive feedback received from delegates, The Physiological Society has a full virtual events calendar planned for 2021.
